Here we go

Have you every asked God for something big? Perhaps you’ve already asked for patience and now you are living with the daily reminders that you are far from it. Perhaps you’ve wanted God to give you faith, and now you have daily opportunities to only have faith to hold on too. Perhaps, well, perhaps.

I’ve been asking God for the last several years and I think I may be living that answer. If you are reading this right now, you can see the result. Six weeks ago I had no idea Supportive Ministries even existed. I was just a guy looking for a job…well, I’m still just a guy looking for a job, but now I’ve got several million people looking with me :o) When you ask God to let you work in His Kingdom, in HIS power, you just might get called into the game, even if you’ve never played that position, never wanted to play that position, and still have a hard time trying to figure out what to do in it. Welcome to my world.

I used to be a Dr. Who fan when I used to watch more TV. I guess I’m still a fan of the idea. There was a whole episode hinging on whether the main character, Donna, in this case, turned left at an intersection or went straight. The consequences of that decision were life changing for many people. Doesn’t that feel like the way we approach God?

You pull up to the corner of your average weekday morning, look left…look right…and ask…which way God?

Sometimes that answer comes immediately, well, sometimes. Lately, it’s been taking a bit longer. I could write all day about what I don’t know, what I think, and what it seems like, but then you’d think I was a sports or news commentator. But let me tell you what I know.

God is. Just in case you were having some doubts just now.
“And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.” Exodus 3:14

God loves. And not just sometimes, all the time. In fact, every act God takes has the fingerprint of love on it. I think that’s news for some people, maybe you, maybe even me sometimes. “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.” 1 John 4:7 (ESV)

God is just like Jesus. Every day, from tomorrow until before creation. “The Word was with God and the Word was God.” John 1:1

God speaks. Mostly quietly, when I’m very still…waiting. It feels like God has more time than I do. I want want that answer now, I need to turn left or right. But if I start listening before I get to the turn, before I reach a critical moment, well, I usually have a better idea of which way I think I should turn. He speaks through my Bible reading and when I’m listening to myself lose it with the kids.

The more I listen, the more I realize God speaks. Welcome to Supportive Ministries, disciples of Jesus making disciples of Jesus.
